Of Lice and Men aka The Body Politic

The premise that conservatives and liberals are different has been forcefully laid out in the past by scholars like….well, like me. In a fine analogy to the human body, conservatives would be the brains and liberals would be the heart. When the brain and heart are in equilibrium and synchronization the body is fit and prosperous. When they are not, the body Americana suffers.
Case in point. Lice. When the body is plagued with a virulent case of lice, the brain says to kill them all and let God sort them out. Whereas the heart worries and pines for the little buggers, for they are all God’s cheeldruns. However, the heart knows the lice must go, and so finds no overbearing conflict with the brain. Resolution occurs and the lice are nuked.
However, in the sick body, the brain orders out the bombers, but the heart starts skipping arhythmically and sends signals that the vermin must stay. Not only must they stay, but they must be nurtured and protected so that they may be strong to infest other bodies. As the body nears the point of death by lice infection, the heart settles down, looks around, and wonders how the body got into the shape it’s in. At this point, most probably, the brain will overrule the weak heart, cast out the plague lice, and the body will regain vigor. The strengthend heart, having forgotten the recent past will begin anew, this time quite possibly with retched scabies, having invited the horrid creatures in through a loophole.
The lesson here is that the brain must be ever vigiliant, for if the heart prevails totally, the body will die a slow, horrible, painful death. The brain must remember what the heart forgets.
