Death of Empire – Sometimes we get so caught up in the minutia that we lose sight of the larger picture.
The Roman Empire was the world’s greatest act until the emergence of the American nation. Like all great civilizations, they all fall down. In all cases except the Republican form of government design of our system, the seeds of dissolution were sewn from the very beginning. The American system, alone, was designed to stand strong in the test of time
President Obama came to power by a combination of his own efforts, aided by the ceaseless work of the Democrats, and by the lack of character and will of the Republicans. President Obama was and is The Perfect Storm. He has unleashed an oily tidal wave of supremely destructive and dynamic forces that seek to fundamentally change the nature, character, and structure of the United States.
As you are well aware, our three branchs of government, legislative, judicial, and executive, is so designed as to be so horribly fouled up and at constant at odds with itself, that it works in the long haul, because no one part can gain enough power over the other two to lead to dictatorship.
It is all bound together by our Constitution. If the Constitution is allowed to function and is abided by, the American Century can go on forever.
That being said, the one thing that can and will lead to the destruction of the country is the corruption of the Constitution.
Do you recall the presidential debate that took place only two short years ago? On July 23, 2007 Hillary Clinton, running for the American presidency, made the famous…some would say infamous statement, “I am a Progressive.”
At that time, did you have a clue as to what she was talking about? I didn’t.
It wasn’t until much later that the full import of her proud comments became all too clear. By that time, of course, the whole country had already been thrown from the train, into the path of an oncoming bus.
The very meaning of progressive is change, whereas, conservatives seek constancy.
Only through the judicious application of the Constitution can the fabric of our nation through its form of government be maintained.
The progressives believe that the Constitution is a living document. They believe that it changes over time, and if change does not come quickly enough, then they believe that they must help it along.
Unfortunately, in the case of the Constitution, to change a thing is to destroy a thing. We have seen, in our short lifetimes, the destruction wrought by creeping liberalism, and more recently, unbridled progressivism.
The latest Supreme Court nominee, Elena Kagan, is the culmination of generations of work by American progressives, and will, to the best of her ability, if asked to serve, actively work to make the Constitution of the United States a living document. In so doing, she, and her kind will so weaken the document as to render it obsolete. When that day comes, the American century will end.
It is thus inexplicable that even as darkness falls, the Republicans in Congress still sit on their hands. And should a brave man, the likes of Joe Barton of Texas, question too closely, the motives of the left, well then, he is censured, threatened, and shut down by the leadership of his own party. The implication of Barton’s takedown was not lost on other members. They are required to sit quietly on their hands as the democrats go about their mischief.
While the Republicans continue to flail about on the Hill in abject, self inflicted impotence, all true Conservatives continue to scan the horizon for the deliverer.
In times past, we had the consolation of knowing, deep down indeed that in times of peril our government was at best helpful, and at worst, absent. Today we can find no solace in a government that is to all intents and purposes working against its own people. There is no precedent for it in all of the American experience.
The tie that binds us all to one another is the Constitution of the United States. So goes the Constitution, so goes the nation. The only power on earth that can defend the sanctity of that document is the Republican congressmen. If they fail us now, it really doesn’t make much difference if they stay or go in the future. The time for principle is now. Later is too late.
